American Legion Jersey Boys State
Family Day 2008
Friday, June 20th
Sponsored by
The New Jersey Boys State Foundation
Boys State Family Day
gives parents, family and friends the opportunity to have some fun in the sun
while meeting their son's counselors and fellow statesmen. Come learn what your
son has been up to at the American Legion Jersey Boys State program and find
out why we call it "A Week That Shapes the Future."
Family Day includes:
q Cookout with hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta, salad, and dessert
q Entertainment including selections from the Boys State Band
q Best City and Best County awards presentation announcement
q The American Legion Jersey Boys State Graduation Ceremony
The fun of Family Day
begins at 11:00am on the Rider University Main Mall. Each Boys State
"city" will have a designated "home base" at the Student Center where parents
can meet their sons and their friends and counselors.
Please plan to bring picnic
blankets or beach chairs if you wish to sit outdoors with your son and his
city. Limited indoor seating will be available.
In the event of rain, Family Day will
be held inside Daly Dining Hall, with graduation to follow in the Alumni
Gymnasium.
Tickets
require only a minimum charitable donation to the New Jersey Boys State
Foundation -- $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Since there are a
limited number of tickets available, please buy all tickets (or provide your
son with a check to buy tickets) in advance at Boys State registration on
Sunday, June 15th. Delegate
tickets will be paid for by the Foundation. Checks should be made payable
to "New Jersey Boys State Foundation" and the number of adult and child tickets
being purchased should be noted on the memo line of the check.
The New Jersey Boys
State Foundation is a 501(c) 3 charitable not-for-profit organization, which
was independently formed by Boys State's volunteer staff members for the
betterment of the program. The goal of
the Foundation is to continuously improve the top-quality educational
experience that Boys State currently provides for its participants. The
Foundation is determined to build on the success of past years and to provide
the youth of New Jersey with the same high-caliber program that their
predecessors have been fortunate to experience. By building an endowment for
the benefit of the American Legion Jersey Boys State program, we seek to
enhance the program and its curriculum, offer scholarships, and ensure the
financial stability of Jersey Boys State well into the future. As a 501(c)(3) charitable not-for-profit
organization under the Internal Revenue Code, contributions to the Foundation
are tax-deductible. Note that a portion of your contribution for Family Day
tickets is tax-deductible.
