Registration begins at 8:00 am and ends at 10:00 am on Sunday June 15th (Father's Day).
Upon your arrival on the campus of Rider University by entering the main gate at the traffic light, proceed
directly to the Student Recreation Center (new building on the left side of the mall next to Alumni Gym).
Boys State staff will be on hand to direct you.
(Alternately, your best bet is to drive 300 yards past Rider's main entrance to the "South Entrance" and
make a right into campus. Once you go through the security gate, proceed to the large parking lot on your right, you will see the
backs of the Alumni Gym and New Student Recreation Center (SRC). Delegates will need to register in the building to the left (SRC),
there is an entrnce between the two buildings.)
You will see a banner over the entrance which says "American Legion Jersey Boys State".
Make sure your delegate has his completed and signed Medical Form, Permit to Register
Card, any money to purchase an additional ALJBS shirt and/or to be deposited into the ALJBS Bank, and Musical Instrument (if
playing in the band). Parents and guests should wait outside or in the lobby and not enter the doors to the registration tables.
Delegates will exit the SRC from the side doors and be directed to their dorm across the main mall.
As delegates enter the Student Recreation Center (SRC), they will be pointed to our First Aid staff at two locations.
They will review your medical form and discuss it with you. If you do not have this form properly
completed, you will not be allowed to register.
Upon entering the gym area, you will see the Alternate table. For those of you
who are alternates, go directly to this table for further instructions. If you are a regular delegate,
proceed to the tables set up on the right hand side. Locate your table by looking for the card that shows
the first letters of your last name. Present to the person sitting behind the table your "permit to
register" card. They will then give you a green card which will have your dormitory, room, and political
party assignment.
Proceed toward the back of the Student Recreation Center where you will be given one Boys State shirt. We recommend
that you buy an additional shirt at this time. Others can be purchased during the week.
After getting your shirt(s), proceed to your left to deposit your money into our bank. You can withdraw
your money during week as long as you have your bank card. You will be given a bank card when you deposit
your money.
Return to the rear of the Student Recreation Center and if you play a musical instrument, you can join our band. Before
you leave the Student Recreation Center, you will be given a map of the dormitories to help you locate the dormitory
where you have been assigned.
When you arrive at your dormitory, you will be greeted by your counselors who will take your green card
and get you started.
To expedite the process and shorten the amount of time delegates are inside the Student Recreation Center, we
kindly ask that all parents wait outside for their son. Make sure he has his "permit to
register" card, signed and notarized Medical form, any money to purchase an extra Boys State shirt ($10),
any money he will deposit in the bank (about $40 - $60 will cover the essentials) and his band instrument
(if applicable). We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
